Keynote Speaker: Larry Wall
Larry Wall developed the Perl interpreter and language while working for System Development Corporation, which later became part of Unisys, finally releasing it in December of 1987. He is the co-author of Programming Perl (often referred to as the Camel Book and published by O'Reilly), which is the definitive resource for Perl programmers, in addition to editing the Perl Cookbook. Fast forward to December 2015, and his continued work with Perl is as evident as ever with the release of the long awaited Perl 6.
Larry’s technical skills are nearly as well known as his quick, shrewd wit, and his dry, sometimes sarcastic, sense humor. Larry will be hosting a Questions and Answers session moderated by Ruth Bavousett. This is the perfect opportunity to learn from the man himself just what was he thinking?
Larry Wall’s presentations are always well received by the Perl community. We are very excited that he is able to attend due to craigslist generously covering his travel expenses. If you have not yet seen this dynamic presenter, you are certainly missing out.
Girl Develop It! Discounts Available
craigslist has generously offered a $100 discount to each of the first 50 attendees from Girl Develop It! who purchase their conference pass with the available discount code. This brings the purchase cost of your pass down to $150. Attendees using the discount code will still be responsible for all other costs of attending (eg; travel, meals, accommodation). If interested, please contact admin@yapcna.org for discount code information.
New to Perl Scholarships Announced
The New to Perl Scholarships have been announced. If you applied, please check your email. Thank you to all who applied. While we always wish we could do more, we were very pleased with the number of people who applied this year. Scholarships were issued on a random basis, and all unclaimed scholarships will be re-issued before the conference. If you are having difficulties applying your discount code, please contact admin@yapcna.org.
