Standards of Conduct Incident Report for TPC 2019

<p dir="ltr"><span><span>During one of the presentations at TPC, a speaker made disrespectful comments concerning a member of our community. Specifically, the speaker both </span><a href="https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/deadname">deadnamed</a><span> and misgendered this person.</span> As with all of our talks, a recording was made of the session and posted to our YouTube channel. We received a complaint regarding his comments after the video was posted.</span></p>
<p dir="ltr"><span>Upon reviewing the video, the SOC Committee has concluded that the comments do constitute a violation of the </span><a href="https://perlconference.us/tpc-2019-pit/standards-of-conduct/"><span>Standards of Conduct</span></a><span> as published by The Perl Foundation. As a result, we have decided to remove the video.</span></p>
<p dir="ltr"><span>Our goal for all Perl Foundation activities, including The Perl Conference, is to provide a safe and welcoming environment for all attendees. This is ensured by enforcement of the </span><a href="https://perlconference.us/tpc-2019-pit/standards-of-conduct/"><span>Standards of Conduct</span></a><span>.</span></p>
