Grants updates:
h3. "Port PyYAML to Perl":http://www.perlfoundation.org/ingy_dot_net_port_pyyaml_to_perl -- Ingy döt Net
No updates, this time.
h3. "Fixing Bugs in the Archive::Zip Perl Module":http://www.perlfoundation.org/fixing_bugs_in_the_archive_zip_perl_module -- Alan Haggai Alavi
Alan Haggai has been improving (and completed) the new named argument features and adding lots of automated tests. A new release of Archive::Zip, with many of his improvements, is now available on the CPAN.
Currently he is updating the POD to reflect the changes.
Next he will resumo adding Unicode support.
h3. "Test::Builder 2":http://www.perlfoundation.org/test_builder_2 -- Michael G Schwern
Michael was hired at a full time job two months ago and was finding it difficult to keep the job and also keep up on the Open Source work. He should get back on track really soon.
h3. "Perl cross-compilation for linux and wince":http://www.perlfoundation.org/vadim_konovalov_perl_cross_compilation_for_linux_and_wince -- Vadim Konovalov
Vadim does not give updates for some time.
h3. "Tcl/Tk access for Rakudo":http://www.perlfoundation.org/vadim_konovalov_tcl_tk_access_for_rakudo -- Vadim Konovalov
Vadim does not give updates for some time.
h3. "Perl Survey":http://www.perlfoundation.org/kieren_diment_the_perl_survey -- Kieren Diment
KD has finished Catalyst book stuff, etc, and is back to work. He posted a "blog update":http://use.perl.org/~singingfish/journal/39187
So for now, he is going to go through the survey report fairly slowly, replicating the previously presented analysis in R code and writing notes about what extra things can be done with the extant data. Once this is done, he will look at things that can be dropped from the old survey, and think about enhancing the next iteration of the survey with more questions.
h3. "Mojo Documentation Project":http://www.perlfoundation.org/sebastian_riedel_the_mojo_documentation_project -- Sebastian Riedel
No updates from Sebastian.
h3. "Embedding perl into C++ applications":http://www.perlfoundation.org/leon_timmermans_embedding_perl_into_c_applications -- Leon Timmermans
No updates from Leon.
h3. "Improving learn.perl.org":http://www.perlfoundation.org/eric_and_tina_improving_learn_perl_org -- Eric and Tina
Eric got a start on the "structures scoping, subroutines" tutorial, but it's not ready yet. Eric thinks he will need to accompany it (and the getting started tutorial) with some "further reading" links, e.g. to some of the intro material on perldoc.perl.org.
h3. "A lightweight web framework for Perl 6":http://www.perlfoundation.org/ilya_carl_and_stephen_a_lightweight_web_framework_for_perl_6 -- Ilya, Carl and Stephen
While there might be blog updates, no resume was received.
h3. "Pod Mangling Utility Improvements":http://www.perlfoundation.org/pod_mangling_utility_improvements_ricardo_signes -- Ricardo Signes
Ricardo is having fun writing reports about himself in the third person.
YAPC has ended and OSCON is coming up. Ricardo hopes to get a little organizational and roadmapping work done between now and OSCON, and possibly some final work on the fundamentals. Unless he experiences a surge in work time, he will probably begin to make progress in earnest after OSCON.
Blogging of his progress will continue as progress occurs.
