From time to time people decide to leave the grant committee and new members join. Recently, Nicholas Clark, a long-time grant committee member, decided to step down. He'll be missed as his knowledge of both Perl and the community are extensive. However, we wound up electing two new grant committee members, Thomas Klausner and Ben Tilly. On the off chance you don't know who they are, I suppose I should tell you a bit about them.
Thomas (widely known as "Domm") is currently a full-time father of 2 kids, half-time Perl hacker, sort-of DJ, bicyclist, dreadlocked and 29 years old. He's also head of Vienna.pm, maintainer of the CPANTS project and the YAPC Europe Foundation (responsible for national workshop support and website maintenance). He also contributes to the CPAN, has held various talks and organizes the Austrian Perl Workshops.
Ben Tilly, better known as "tilly" on perlmonks, has been an active member of the Perl community for years. His background in mathematics often leads him to approach problems from novel directions and he works hard on Perlmonks helping programmers learn to program. He is a contributer to the Perl core, to CPAN and was a technical editor for the second edition of "Learning Perl." He has been a Perl programmer for 7 years, and is currently working at Rent.com, which is part of eBay.
The next round of grant votes is in February. I'm looking forward to working with them on this.
