Nicholas Clark has requested an extension of $20,000 for his "Improving Perl 5 grant":http://news.perlfoundation.org/2011/08/grant-proposal-improving-perl.html. The grant, that is currently running, is on track to finish successfully at the end of June. This extension would allow Nicholas to devote another 400 hours to the project.
Details of the recent work completed can be found in the following blog posts:
"March 2012":http://news.perlfoundation.org/2012/04/improving-perl-5-grant-report-4.html
"April 2012":http://news.perlfoundation.org/2012/06/improving-perl-5-grant-report-5.html
"May 2012":http://news.perlfoundation.org/2012/06/improving-perl-5-grant-report-6.html
Before we make a decision on this extension we would like to have a period of community consultation that will last for seven days. Please leave feedback in the comments or if you prefer send email with your comments to karen at perlfoundation.org.

Please do — this is invaluable for keeping Perl 5 alive.
Nick is doing great work, so please approve this request!
Nick does great work. Please give him more money.
I too support Nick continuing this sort of work.
More Nick work is never a bad thing, he should keep going!
Nick has been doing sterling work on perl. Extending this grant would be a great use of the money donated to TPF.
Does TPF lobby companies for funding? In all seriousness, just knock on the door of RedHat, Apple, Oracle, Google, HP etc (anyone who includes Perl in their OS or product) and ask for funding for various perl improvements.
For example, sit down with them ask for say $100k to have someone profile libperl like mad. Or for someone to write tonnes of documentation or whatever.
It may already be happening, hopefully it is. But my employer is paying redhat a lot of money for their version of perl.
