Dave Mitchell has requested an extension of $20,000 for his "Fixing Perl5 Core Bugs":http://news.perlfoundation.org/2010/02/grant-proposal-fixing-perl5-co.html grant. During this grant he has sent weekly reports to the p5p mailing list as well as providing monthly summary reports that have been published on this blog. He has also provided a short summary of the work he completed during his "last extension":http://news.perlfoundation.org/2011/10/fixing-perl5-core-bugs-grant-e.html:
My previous $20K extension has, over the last 9 months, been spent almost exclusively working on a single meta-bug:
#34161 METABUG - (?{...}) and (??{...}) regexp issues
This work is almost complete, and I expect to to merge the work (approx 120 commits) back into bleadperl shortly, (although there will be some minor fixes still to do after that). At this point I will be able to close around 25 outstanding tickets linked to the meta-ticket.
I anticipate using the next round of grant money to work on a larger number of smaller issues!
Before we make a decision on this extension we would like to have a period of community consultation. Please leave feedback in the comments or if you prefer send email with your comments to karen at perlfoundation.org.

Very worth it
I have no doubt another extension would continue to deliver lots of good fixes.
I have no doubt that Dave's grant continues to be an excellent use of TPF funds.
Please accept this.
by all means continue the funding, well worth it!
The tenacity required to fix such a bug is to be commended. It would be a shame not to see it to the end.
Dave has been a great asset, and I look forward to having him squash more bugs!
Dave Mitchell's work in the past several months has been of incredible importance to Perl 5. Please continue to support it!
+1 and then some
Definitely in favor - Dave has done a great job with the (?{...}) regexp issues (which were just merged a couple weeks ago!) and I'd be quite happy to see him continue fixing bugs.
++, funding Dave is a very good use of the TPF funds
Seems like a no-brainer to keep supporting him.
Yes, please accept the request!
I think that Dave's work is very important to Perl. I would love to see this grant extended.
