The inchstones are falling like 1F030—1F09F as Samantha makes further progress on her grant to improve the robustness of Unicode support in Rakudo.

In her complete blog post, she describes:

  • Implementation of a fully working Unicode Collation Algorithm with only 82 of 190,377 tests failing

  • 100% of Emoji 4.0 emoji are treated as a single grapheme, enabling MoarVM to advertise full Unicode 9.0/Emoji 4.0 text segmentation support.

  • A number of other improvements and fixes, including significant concatenation improvements and technical performance improvements.
