As "announced previously":http://news.perlfoundation.org/2014/02/new-rules-of-operation---grant.html, the Grants Committee calls for grant proposals every two months. This is the first round under the new rule.
If you have an idea for doing some Perl work that will benefit the Perl community, consider sending grant application. The application deadline is March 14th. We will publish the received applications, get community feedback and conclude the acceptance by March 31st.
There are several reasons for you to apply for a grant. 1) Your work will get visibility through TPF 2) You will be assigned a grant manager who will help you accomplish the goal 3) Cash will be paid upon grant completion.
To apply, please read "how to submit a grant":http://www.perlfoundation.org/how_to_write_a_proposal. "Grants Committee Charter":http://www.perlfoundation.org/grants_committee_charter and "Rules of Operation":http://www.perlfoundation.org/rules_of_operation will also help you understand how the grant process works.
The grant amount is always a difficult topic. Try to be realistic; there is no simple rule but it will be best to determine your amount based on "the past grants":http://www.perlfoundation.org/completed_grants.
If you have further questions, please contact us at tpf-proposals at
